TBA is working towards all state associations aligning their financial years with that of TBA.
Previously ACTTBA financial year was 1 July to 30 June with AGM held towards the end of the calendar year.
To align ourselves with TBA the 2017 AGM ratified the change to our financial year, thus we are reporting on 6 months (1 July 2017 to 31 December 2017) financial performance in order to align ourselves with TBA.
Given this change, it is our understanding that we must hold an AGM no longer than 5 months after the close of financial period. Therefore, the AGM has been called and will be held Sunday 20th May 2018 from approximately 2pm following the conclusion of the ACTTBA state team roll off / selection event. Meeting will be held at Tuggeranong Bowl.
Attached to this post is the ACTTBA Notice of Annual General Meeting, Constitution, By-Laws, Notice of Motion and Nomination Forms as the positions of Treasurer, Coaching Coordinator and Centre Representative are required to be filled.
Another important item to be ratified is the alteration of Constitution and By-Laws to change any and all reference to AMF following the current process of change of ownership of the 2 local centres and replacing with what the meeting deems to be a suitable reference to include the new and any future local centre proprietors.
Any nominations and notice of motion have to reach the ACTTBA Secretary no later than 8pm on 6 May 2018.
ACTTBA Youth team has ended the 4 year Victorian domination by winning the 2018 Youth Team Challenge recently at Campbelltown City Bowl.
Our teams efforts started off in winning style with Jodie Kos taking out the Ladies National Youth Cup and Nathan Shoesmith leading the men’s throughout to be pipped into second place by 11 pins by a Singapore Schools bowler. Draftee Brandon Edwards powered home in the match play section of the final to finished 3rd and another of our draftees, Mat Drummond finished 15th our only other finalists.
Our singles day was not as we had hoped, but the training super coach Paul Delany put the team through paid off for two of our girls gaining better placing with 5th and 11th. Our men’s team gained placings of note at 5th, 7th and 13th. We were not placed well in the standing after day 1.
Doubles on day 2 saw our entire team respond extremely well to the previous nights team talk with Amy Shoesmith and Jodie Kos not only winning the ladies doubles but also setting a new event record. Our other ladies combination placed 11th. Our mens placed 6th and 8th, will all showing continued improvement and response to the team coach.
Teams day 3 was awesome for us with both teams getting off to huge starts. After 3 games our ladies led and were 64 over the card with low individual series being 602 for the first block. Our men came out firing with games of 922, 912 and 1001 for a 3 game set of 2835, 435 over the card (low game was 198 and it was the only game under 200). Lunch break and change of pattern and lanes saw our teams struggle to start, with our ladies losing the lead they had built in the morning. but they powered home and got the win by 20 pins over the Singapore girls team who luck would have it drew the same lanes we started the afternoon on. Our men’s team led throughout and held on to win the gold by 44pins from the Vic’s.
All events saw Jodie Kos finish 4th and gaining all star status, Emily Rowland 5th, Amy Shoesmith 9th and Maryia Shoesmith 29th in the ladies. Nathan Shoesmith 5th, Brandon Edwards 9th, Matt Drummond 11th and Rhys Woszczeiko 12th.
Both our ladies and men’s teams gained silver in there respective points division and our combined points score resulted in ACT being named CHAMPIONS FOR 2018.
Congratulations to the entire team and those involved for such a tremendous effort.
The board would like to thank Brandon, Matt and Rhys for accepting invites to bowl with us through the draft, Super Coach Paul Delany, Gayle and Graham Shoesmith for their management and organising of the team.
Job well done team.
